There’s a part of depression many of us never talk about: how we can become so familiar with the darkness that we start sabotaging anything that might help us feel better. Not because we want to stay down… but because the heaviness convinces us that trying won’t matter. I talked about this with my counselor today. She asked me to picture my mind like a pie chart: “How much of your mind is the illness saying, ‘There’s no use,’ and how much is the part of you that still believes healing is possible?” I told her honestly: 25% hopeful, 75% exhausted and fighting. That 75% is loud. It says, “I’ve tried everything. Nothing works.” But she reminded me of something important: Something in me keeps showing up. Something in me keeps reaching out for help. I see political chaos, spiritual blindness, and a culture obsessed with temporary comforts. And I find myself asking why only a few seem to see clearly while the majority drift along without thinking deeply about eternity.
